5 Tips for scaling your SEO business

seo companyEvery business wants more clients. If you are running a SEO company we’re sure you do too. There are two factors to keep in mind when scaling your business. First, is to increase your sales and your number of clients. Second, is to make sure your staff is expanding along with your clients in order to maintain top notch customer service.

1) Network

If people don’t know your SEO company exists you’ll never have any clients. Start with telling your family and friends. You don’t need to be pushy or even off your service to them directly, just let them know what you are doing. Ask them if they know anyone who has a small business. Make it clear you offer SEO guidance. Even answering questions like “What is SEO?” can go a long way for your brand awareness.

2) Utilize workforce apps

The way we work is changing. In this digital world, you are no longer limited by your geographical area. Workforce apps such as Upwork and Freelancer connect you with clients looking for your services as well as potential employees and contractors from throughout the United States and even across the world.

3) Don’t forget local leads

It’s easy to get caught up in all the digital connections out there that you might be missing the leads right under your nose. Don’t forget your local community. In your city or town, there are many small businesses that need help updating their aging websites for SEO.

Don’t feel comfortable with the cold call sales pitches? No problem! Try volunteering or working with some of your town’s small business organizations like your local chamber of commerce. These are great places to meet long-lasting connections while helping your community at the same time.

4) Consider coworking spaces

Sure, a lot of your SEO company work can be done remote and from home. But cooped away in your house limits your ability to make real connections. Consider spaces designed for entrepreneurs and start-ups like yourself.

Coworking spaces are great places to make connections and find other companies who need help with their SEO. They are affordable and many offer nice benefits like snacks, massages, and networking events all included in your monthly fee.

5) Know when to hire help

So you’re getting clients and the work you’re producing is stellar. Clients are giving you referrals, and now you’re at a point where you can’t handle all the work yourself. As a growing business, you don’t want to turn any leads down, but there just isn’t enough time in the day to complete everything.

Now’s the time to make a hire or two. But how do you find the right person? Go through the network you’ve been building. Oftentimes you will find a good referral from those resources. If you can’t find a suitable candidate there, try a workforce app like we talked about earlier. That gives you a chance to test a new employee out before fully committing.

Scaling your SEO company can seem intimidating and stressful. By using the above tips it will alleviate you from some of the stress and allow you to focus on that will help your growing business become profitable and successful.
